MOTORISTS in Salford will no longer have to put up with sneaky speed cameras after the location of every single one has been revealed.

While speeding drivers should still fear £60 fixed penalty fines for breaking the law, no longer will they be unsure of exactly where those speed traps actually are.

The move comes as the government changes the law to make sure new cameras are sited in the correct locations and are fair to drivers.

Salford Council has given up its revenue raising power, and responsibility for the sites, to the Greater Manchester Camera Safety Partnership.

Emma Reynolds, from the partnership said: "The partnership is only able to claim back the setting up costs and maintenance of the cameras, any extra revenue goes directly to the Treasury, it does not go to the police or local authorities as some newspapers have claimed.

"Partnerships are also not able to put up new cameras unless there has been a proven case that they are needed and all other road safety measures have been attempted.

"There also has to be a proven history of collisions over the last three years and all cameras are reviewed on a yearly basis."

Where are the cameras?:

East Lancs Road - 5 red light cameras, at the junctions with Moorside Road, Worsley Road, Walkden Road, and Mosley Common Road, and a static Gatso outside Moorside High Schooll;

Red light cameras - Eccles New Road, Trafford Road junction; Albion Way, where it meets Liverpool Street; and Liverpool Road where it crosses Peel Green Road. Static cameras - 2 on Broad Street.
