Bike scoots off after one day in Salford

A STUDENT has been left stranded after her scooter was stolen on the very day she moved to Salford.

Fionna Yule, aged 33, is studying homeopathic medicine at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston and was depending on her scooter to make the trip over to a friend's in Trafford where she could get a lift into university.

It was taken on Sunday, November 30 and has since been recovered by police from a ditch on Littleton Road playing fields, Kersal, but is wrecked.

Without it she will have to travel by train, and says she cannot afford the £20 a week it will cost.

This is the second time Fiona's scooter has been stolen since she moved from Preston to be with friends 10 weeks ago. It was first taken while she was staying with a friend in Hulme, preparing to move into her new home on Healy Close, Kersal. It had only been a couple of weeks since she had recovered the £2,200 scooter - which had been wrecked and needed £1,400 of repairs - when she moved to Salford and it was stolen a second time.

She said: "I'm gutted. I got a scooter to help me get about, it gave me some more mobility. I do have a push bike fortunately, but I was going to use my scooter to get to a university friend's house in Trafford."
