Cat loses eye in sick attack

A PEEL GREEN couple have blasted sick thugs who they say maimed their pedigree cat for life.
Austin, a three-year-old Persian Blue, had to have an eye removed after the attack last week.
Vets have told them he was either pelted with stones or kicked in the face.
The attack happened while owners Dale and Melinda Merrington, of Northfleet Road, were away on a short break and the cat was being looked after by a relative.
Melinda said: "When we returned, we found him lying on the neighbour's shed with his eye hanging out. The vet tried to save the eye but it was no use. He said Austin had not been in an accident as his injuries would have been more severe.
She added: "We are absolutely gutted at the thought that anybody could be so cruel. He is such a gentle cat and we can't understand why anyone would want to deliberately harm him."
