28/ 2/2003

POLICE are searching for a snake which was stolen during a burglary last weekend.

The python was stolen during a burglary at a flat on Buile Hill Avenue in Little Hulton some time between midday on Saturday and 8.15pm on Sunday 23rd February, when the offender smashed a window at the side of the premises, broke into the flat and stole the snake.

The snake is 4ft long, with distinctive black and brown markings and is known as a Royal Python.

PC Simon Broadhurst of Little Hulton police said: "Although the python is not venomous, we would like to warn people that it can present a danger, especially to young children. If anyone is offered a snake matching its description, or has any information surrounding this incident, I would urge them to contact us immediately on 0161 856 5272 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
