Marian says so long to treatment

CANCER sufferer Marian Hesketh is saying thank-you to Christie Hospital for her recovery in the only way she knows how.

Marion aims to raise over £3,000 so that the hospital can help other patients battle against their illnesses. It's her way of paying staff back for supporting her in her battle against lung cancer last year.

Marian, aged 60, was diagnosed last June and went through gruelling chemotherapy and radiotherapy before the tumours were reduced in size.

"I used to go every Monday for treatment," said the grandmother of 10, "and now I only need to go every three months.

"In all the time I was there, every single member of staff made me feel welcome, from the cleaners right through to the nurses and doctors. In fact, it was such a positive, happy place, I almost miss my Monday visits!"

A series of fundraisers has being planned, which kicked off with a games night at Taylors Social Club on Barton Lane last week. A sponsored football run by members of the club's football team takes place at Cleveleys track, in Winton, with some of Marian's grandchildren completing the last lap. A charity night with grand raffle takes place at Taylors Club on Friday, February 28.
