Why Swinton RLFC needs YOU!

FRESH air, a free ticket to the game and a tenner in your hand - it's a job most rugby league fans would probably sell their grandmother for!

But despite the dreamy job description, Swinton Lions are finding it tough to recruit matchday stewards for their new home at Salford City FC's Moor Lane ground.

The club need a minimum of 10 people to oversee crowd safety on a matchday and provide spectators with a helping hand when required.

Chief safety officer at the club, John Holden, said anyone aged 18 to 65 can apply.

He told the Advertiser: "It's ideal for people who are interested in the sport of rugby league or people who want a bit of fresh air - there's plenty of that at Moor Lane! They're a friendly crowd down there and it's a really pleasant atmosphere, there's no aggravation with the job.

"It's not all about safety, the most important part of a steward's job is making sure the spectators enjoy the game, so they know where they can get an ice cream or where the loos are!"

Full training is given and each steward receives £10 for each game covered. Anyone who wishes to find out more can contact John on 0161 724 4354.
