Lee Lap's up his trip to see Santa

LEE Pamphlett has every reason to feel on top of the world this week - after his special visit to see Santa Claus in Lapland.
Lee, aged seven, of Springwood Special School, on Barton Road, Swinton was nominated for the special trip by his heart nurse Kim Laurie. She put his name forward to a charity called When You Wish Upon A Star, which makes dreams come true for poorly children.
He flew out last Wednesday from Manchester Airport on the day trip, accompanied by his sister Maxine, who is a qualified nurse. Lee and Maxine took lots of warm clothing with them to combat Lapland's climate. Apparently, the temperature in the Enchanted Forest, where the children were due to be taken on reindeer rides and sledging, can drop to minus 25C.
Lee and the other lucky youngsters were accompanied by a doctor for the 16 hour trip. The children visited Rovaniemi, where the Enchanted Forest lies, rode on skidoos and enjoyed husky rides and a sleigh ride, drawn by Rudolph.
Sitting in a circle on the lake, the children took part in an Arctic Circle initiation ceremony where they drank hot chocolate and were flicked by a reindeer tail!
After a buffet lunch, it was then off to meet Santa in his Lapland village. Lee also visited Santa's post office where Santa's helpers stamp children's letters from all over the world.
