JO DAKIN prepares for her big night at the Comedy Store.
Comedienne Jo plans to have the last laugh

AN ASPIRING Victoria Wood will be going up against the funniest comedians in Greater Manchester in her bid to win the coveted City Life Comedian of the Year Award.
Stand-up Jo Dakin, aged 30, of Park Street, Swinton, has won herself a place in the final this Sunday (November 3) with her own unique brand of deadpan black comedy.
Jo graduated from Salford University's highly regarded Performing Arts course last year - although ironically she did not study the unusual module in stand-up which the course offers.
Since then she has performed over 100 times and hopes to one day emulate her comic heroes Victoria Wood and Ross Noble.
She said: "I'm over the moon. I was slightly surprised to get through, based on the strength of the competition - it was very tough all the way through - but I had a great gig on the night. I'm a bit nervous about the final and will definitely have butterflies on the day, but I have something a bit special planned for the night."
The Comedian of the Year final is at the Comedy Store, at Deansgate Locks this Sunday from 7.30pm, tickets £12. To book call 08705 932932.
