A YOUNG Ordsall footballer's girlfriend thought he was so handsome she wanted to show the world - and secretly entered him in a modelling competition.

Joe Warmington, aged 17, of Regent Square, Ordsall only found out his girlfriend Kerry had entered him in the Face of Manchester 2002 when he received a phone call from the agency.

First time model Joe, who studies sports science at Worsley College, said he felt right at home modelling clothes once he got on the catwalk and being cross examined by Galaxy 102 dj Nicksy.

He said: "I'd never done it before and was pretty nervous at first, but it was a good laugh. I think I could do it."

Joe missed out on the top prize but beat off fierce competition to get in the final 20.

But missing out on the catwalk does not bother Joe too much - he plays football semi-professionally for Trafford and hopes to forge himself a career there after finishing college.

Face of Manchester 2002 finals were held at Manchester's Triangle shopping centre last Wednesday. Top prize was a year's representation by Boss Model Management agency.

Judges included celebrity stylist Armand Beasely, Galaxy 102's Nicksy and Boss Model Management managing director Debra Burns.
