Injuries after bus crash

A NUMBER of people were taken to hospital after a bus and a car collided in Pendlebury.

A single-decker bus carrying passengers was travelling west along the A666 Bolton Road at 2.25pm yesterday (Thursday), when collided head-on with a Cavalier travelling east in the westbound carriageway, at the junction of Hospital Road.

The fire and ambulance services were also called to rescue the car driver from his vehicle. The 70-year-old driver from Swinton was taken to Hope Hospital with chest and neck injuries and is currently detained in a poorly but stable condition, suffering from a broken neck and broken ribs.

The driver of the bus, a 30-year-old man from Bolton, and a number of passengers on the bus, were also taken to Hope Hospital where they received treatment for minor injuries.
