Police continue murder hunt for car-jackers

THE man who was killed by a gang attempted to rob his car in Salford Quays on Tuesday night is due to be formally identified.

Detectives are still searching for the killers of the man, who is thought to be 46-year-old Glynn Ellis from Knaresborough in North Yorkshire.

He had parked his car on St Lawrence Quay to go to the Manchester United match at Old Trafford. When he returned to his car at about 10.30pm, Tuesday 27th August, a group of four or five people attempted to steal his Ford Mondeo.

During the attempted theft, the victim became trapped under the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries. The group, unable to move the car, ran away from the incident.
