LOUISE Brookes waits to hear your stories of old Ordsall
Take a walk with Ordsall folk and make local history

A SERIES of guided walks tracing the history of Ordsall are being planned as part of an art project to highlight regeneration in the area.
Community artist Louise Brookes will be working closely with residents, collecting location-based stories which will bring the history of the area to life. She said the project would highlight how regeneration had encroached on Ordsall by compiling a series of taped guided walks which people could borrow.
She added: "It's about revealing the recollections of the local community and highlighting the difference between external perceptions of the area and the reality of life in Ordsall with its rich community networks. The project is celebratory and will give the community a unique voice within the wider region and encourage visitors to consider the area as a living space for a community - as a social rather than merely a physical entity."
There will also be celebratory events held as the project is compiled and possibly some aerial photography of the area, which would be used to make a jigsaw. The project is being supported by Ordsall Community Arts and Salford City Council. An archive of material gathered will be maintained at Ordsall Hall.
