Edward McHale at St Pauls
St Pauls marks 150th birthday

A CHURCH almost destroyed by fire 15 years ago celebrated its 150th anniversary over the Jubilee holiday weekend.
The colourful history of St Paul's Church, on Moor Lane, Kersal, was documented by organist Edward McHale in a short pamphlet and there was a display of archive material.
Central to the display was a video of the church made after the fire and during its reconstruction over the following four and a half years.
About 400 people visited the church over the four-day celebration, including many who had never been in before.
The church is now looking towards a bright future, with a new rector due to be appointed next week.
