Hunt launched for machete robbers

POLICE are searching for an armed gang who raided a security van and threatened the guard with a machete in Walkden yesterday (Tuesday).
A number of masked offenders targeted the van outside the Royal Bank of Scotland on Bridgewater Road at about 2.50pm.
They threatened the guard with a machete before escaping with a cash box in a beige coloured Vauxhall Cavalier which was later found abandoned in Chestnut Avenue.
One of the offenders is described as a white male, 5ft 8in tall and of average build, wearing a black woollen ski mask and a light coloured short jacket.
Officers are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who saw the vehicle being abandoned in Chestnut Avenue. They are asked to contact CID on 0161 856 5259 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
