The CD-size pencil drawing is expected to fetch ??7,000

A LOWRY pencil drawing - not much bigger than a CD case - of a woman sitting in Peel Park is expected to fetch up to £7,000 when it is auctioned by Christie's in London on November 21.
The drawing, simply titled 'Seated Woman, Peel Park, Manchester', measures just under nine inches by five and a half inches and was produced by LS Lowry in 1957 - the year he celebrated his 70th birthday.

According to Christie's, the drawing was a gift from the artist to the present owner.
Lowry's paintings sometimes fetch considerably more than his drawings and on December 1, 1999 a new world record for a Lowry painting was set when the Professional Footballers Association bought Lowry's 1953 painting 'Going To The Match' for £1,926,500 when it was auctioned at Sotheby's in London.
The PFA featured the painting on their 2000 Christmas card.
