Frankly delighted

MEET Frank, the pooch crowned Salford’s prettiest pet.

The young Westie has been chosen as top dog out of the hundreds of entrants into the Advertiser’s Pet Idol competition.

Owner Hannah Sammon said she hadn’t taken the contest too seriously but was thrilled to win first place.

Hannah, of Robert Street, Eccles, said: "I am sure Frank would be delighted to have won.

"Everyone always goes on about him because he’s not as ugly as other Westies so we thought we would enter him for a laugh.

"I was looking at some of the pictures of the other entrants on the website and we didn’t expect to win but I did send a few messages around telling people to vote for him."

Lucky Frank will now be in for some special pampering when Hannah gets her hands on the Pet Idol prize - £150 of vouchers to spend in Pets at Home.

The two-year-old, who has been the family pet of Hannah, her mother Ann and sister Jenny since he was a puppy, will also now be entered into a grand final with the chance to walk away with £500 worth of Pets at Home vouchers.

Hannah added: "He’s really nice - he’s like a human, with lots of personality.

"He’s quite mischievous - he likes to wind us up with his toys sometimes. I might give him a little treat to celebrate, he might get a new toy."

Frank was in the top five pets voted for by Advertiser readers. These five were then judged by bosses at the Pets at Home store in Bolton.

Assistant manager James Kenyon said: "After asking all the staff that are in store we have decided that Frank is the best looking dog by far.

"He has a cheeky look about him - like butter wouldn’t melt."
