TWO people were injured after gunmen walked into a busy pub and opened fire.

Terrified customers fled for cover after two masked men entered the Dog and Partridge pub on Bolton Road, Salford, on Saturday night.

A number of shots were fired - injuring a 50-year-old woman, who was hit in the ankle, and a 26-year-old man who was shot in the thigh.

Both victims were treated in hospital and their injuries are not life threatening.

The incident happened at the Bolton Road pub just before 10pm.

Det Insp Rebekah Sutcliffe, of Salford CID, urged anyone with information about the shootings to contact her.

She said: "This was a terrifying incident and it is fortunate people were not more seriously injured.

"Incidents of this nature are extremely rare in Salford and I'd like to reassure the community there is an increased police presence in the area in response to this.

"We really need to catch these offenders and I would urge anyone who knows their identity to contact us."

Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 5351 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Now closing down this pub is not going to stop people shooting at one another, yes it may have it's problems but again you will be taking away the rights of good people who want to enjoy themselves. If you went round closing every public house or bar that had trouble there would be none to go to, don't let silly minded council big wigs use the pub as a scapegoat and take away good peoples rights to have a life its not gonna make these people put down their guns and be good, they will just shoot the person there after on the street or in there home
