Man dies in house fire

A MAN has died in a fatal house fire in Salford.
Police received a report of someone trapped in a fire at a first floor flat on Eccles Old Road shortly before 12.15am this morning (Tuesday).
Firefighters and GMP officers arrived at the scene and found an unconscious 40-year-old man in the bedroom of the flat.
He was brought out of the flat by firefighters who attempted to give him first aid, but he died at the scene.
A joint fire and police investigation has now been launched to establish the cause of the blaze, but it is not thought to be suspicious at this stage.
