As one of the leading schools in Salford, Moorside High at Swinton combines an excellent record in examination results with unparallel opportunities in sports and the arts, the latter recently receiving the prestigious Arts Council of England Arts Mark. This was followed by a Creative Media Award and Arts Award.
It is indeed a school where pupils and staff work hard and play hard and the resulting synergy is a school where students have an environment in which they can reach their full potential. During the school’s most recent HMI visit, June 2007, teaching was classed as outstanding and GCSE results in August bore testament to this with maths and English being above the national and area average. Virtually all subjects having high A*C pass rates, and the schools 22 per cent Gifted and Talented pupils all achieved 10 A*- C passes with 17 per cent succeeding in the 3A */A challenge.
