My 18mth old little boy was born at Hope and he would definitely not be here if it wasn't for the care and expertise of Dr Polson and the facilities available to me there during a very difficult pregnancy. Why is it that when we finally have something good, others want to close it down? Please don't!

i am a proud salfordian and think this decision is disgusting . Hope has been the birth place of genarations of my family and is has provided wonderful maternity and neo natel servives to them all. This decision is putting babies and mothers lives in danger and should be stopped from going ahead. LONG LIVE THE SALFORDIAN.

The maternity at Hope Hospital should stay. It is the first choice for most mum-to-be's to give birth and receive information and help (including myself).

Please dont close this hospital. My whole family has been born there. It would be awful to do that

I and my twin sister were born at Hope Hospital on 27 March 1945 - the second biggest twins in Salford at that time, according to the Salford City Reporter. One month later John Motson (the BBC football commentator) was born at the same hospital!

My second grandson was born two days ago in Hope Hospital and I can not tell you how impressed at the level of care and consideration they where given by the Maternity team. My first grandson was born two years ago at another Manchester Hospital and his mum and dad where pleased to leave the hospital as the staff were totally overworked and could not offer the level of care hoped for and this is why for the birth of their second child they selected Hope Hospital and where not dissappointed. This is why this Maternity Dept must not be closed and it is a shame that the 'powers that be" listen to the people that put them in them current positions.

My first son was born at Hope Hospital two years ago, and I had the most amazing experience there. The staff and facilities were excellent. I'm about to have my second child in Sydney, and only wish I was in Salford for it, as the level of care I have received so far with the Australian health care system has been far below that of Salford's. It would be such a shame if the mums and babies of Salford, most of whom are already affected by coming from a low socio-economic area, were to be further disadvantaged by the closure of such an excellent facility.

The maternity ward at Hope is a lifeline to everyone within the area, and is a testament to how good medical services can be. 3 generations of my family have been born at Hope and it would be a travesty to close such an important unit.

its a joke to be p[roposing to close any maternity hospitals, women will continue to have babies and now it just means there is less hospitals to care for them. it will be like a conver belt in a factory because each hospital that will be saved will have a bout 8000 deliveries and women wont get optimum care, theyl be in deliver and out. its a horrid thought. jayne midwife x

Where are we supposed to give birth if Hope shuts? Birth is very stressful and if the next option is to travel into the centre of Manchester, it is going to be made even worse!
