Week of eastern promise

Dianne Bourne
14/ 7/2008

EAST met west as Manchester's style crowd headed out to the launch of the new Yang Sing Oriental boutique hotel.

Media types, VIPs and celebs headed to the stylish new boutique hotel for their first glance of its eastern-styled interiors ahead of its public opening on August 2.

And the "glam chic" dress code had clearly not fallen on deaf ears as fortune favoured the brave on the fashion front.

We were loving Waterloo Road star Chelsee Healy's bold pink shoes and handbag with an on-trend floral dress, while Hollyoaks' Dominique Jackson showed off her enviable figure in a daring black cut-out top with white jeans.

Channel M's Nikki Dean was looking fabulous with her new platinum blonde hairdo - and rather reminded us of another blonde bombshell - Madonna in her Shanghai Surprise era.

Super-healthy

Meanwhile across town there was nothing like an ever-running conveyor belt of food to bring out the city's revellers in force.

And fashionistas didn't even have to worry about their waistlines when the food was the super-healthy fish dishes at the new Yo! Sushi launch at the Spinningfields development.

The purse-strings were of greater concern when Style was approached with a £1,000 platter of sushi dishes - although it turned out the super-expensive fish was laid on to wow us guests especially for the bash.

The ladies were dressing to impress - and we loved Loanna Powell's vintage mini-dress, while Gwen Oakden was working this summer's hot floral trend.

But special mention goes to Brazen PR girl Kate Greville.

Fresh from her Royal Ascot exploits wearing a Stilton-shaped hat to promote a client, Kate gamely donned a kimono and geisha-girl make-up to get in the Yo! Sushi spirit. Someone give that girl a pay rise!
