His and hers parties

Helen Tither and Dianne Bourne
5/ 5/2008

LADIES who lunch need to keep on top of the latest fashions, so first stop was the Lowry hotel for a special spring fashion event. After all, you've got to keep looking chic on the circuit.

Organised by The Touch events, the three-course lunch included a new season fashion show from House of Fraser, as shown off by Liquid Models of Wilmslow. With tips on hand from Manchester-based stylist Martine Alexander, who was looking rather chic herself in some summer tailoring.

Topped off with that must-have accessory from any party - a goody bag!

Next it was the turn of the fellas to enjoy a little bling over at Boodles in Manchester for a night of sushi and champagne.

The event brought together two top blokey passions - the super-stylish Patek Philippe watches showcased by Boodles, and the bespoke shoes handcrafted by long-established Edwards of Manchester.

Indeed, Edwards is such a big hit with Manchester's footballing and celebrity fraternity that Style is told you can regularly find half of the premiership chatting away in there while eyeing up their next pair of swish shoes.

Wigan Athletic player Mario Melchiot was among the guests popping down to Boodles on King Street for a chat with the Edwards guys, joined by his stylish pal Peter Mihedji. Sounds like Peter is certainly the man to know - he told Style he's responsible for organising a huge end of season bash for all the big north west footballers this year.

And we spied fashion's new couple at the bash - Amanda Heath of Muse womenswear in Ramsbottom and Slim Chadwick of the city centre's Co-Cu with Amanda's son Tyler, who is already quite the style leader in leather jacket and Ugg boots.

At the event in Manchester, lawyer Peter Southeran was picking up his pair of Edwards shoes - a snip at £3,000.

Well, they did take six months to handcraft to perfectly fit Peter's feet, and were made from alligator skin, no less{hellip}
