Soapbox: who's Kelly got her eye on now?
conrad astley26/ 5/2006
Coronation Street. He doesn't like to make life
easy for himself, our Steve.
Having finally escaped from the dragon's den by saying goodbye to
Tracy, he shacks up with Ronnie.
All right, she is the former partner of a psychopath, she does
flirt with Tracy's new fella whenever his back's turned and she has
got a bloke's name - but, by the McDonald boy's standards, this is
domestic bliss.
However, the couple have a blazing row and he goes off on his
own.
Meanwhile, Kelly isn't impressed that Lloyd persuaded her to plead
guilty for the crime she didn't commit and moves out of their flat.
Can you see where this is going? Kelly goes out to drown her
sorrows, bumps into Steve and he invites her back for a
coffee.
Steve makes up with Ronnie the next day, but is feeling a bit
guilty about what he's done - not least because Lloyd is his
business partner and supposedly his mate.
But Ronnie has a more serious secret of her own. Following her row
with Steve, she drives off in Streetcars taxi and - while trying to
call him on her mobile - ploughs into an old man.
She panics and flees, only to discover that he is dead when she
picks up the trusty Weatherfield Gazette the next day.
It all kicks off between Ashley and Matt when the court case for
custody of Josh finally arrives. Matt claims Ashley isn't a good
enough dad to the tot and instructs a welfare officer to assess his
home life.
The pair square up to each other outside, with Matt saying this was
all Ashley's fault, but disappointingly, it doesn't come to
blows.
EastEnders. Billy and Honey's big day comes up
and, of course, the wedding goes without a hitch.
Only joking - the bride pricks her fingers on her flowers and
becomes convinced the wedding is cursed.
She might have a point, as the DJ pulls out, her hairdresser
cancels and - oh, yes - she collapses outside her front door and
has to be rushed to hospital.
She later gets the all-clear and, though it's too late for them to
get married. But this is Albert Square and it's never too late for
a bit of a gor-blimey knees up around the old Joanna with lashings
of jellied eels.
