Days out

A CHALLENGE has gone out to those who love spending their
weekends in the great outdoors.
The Cheshire Wildlife Trust is looking for volunteers to help run
its ever-expanding programme of wildlife events across the
region.
The Wildlife Watch scheme, has been hugely successful in providing
children with organised wildlife experiences, but groups have not
been able to run as many events as they would like because of a
lack of volunteer leaders.
The Wildlife Watch events include everything from nest box making
to pond dipping.
Leaders are still needed before any of these activities can begin
in areas such as Stockport, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Sale, Tameside,
Altrincham, and Sandbach.
Organisers say being a watch leader isn't time consuming, but an
excellent way to give something back to the community.
Project leader Jan Shone said: "The scheme is proving incredibly
popular, the children love finding out about wildlife and exploring
the outdoors.
"The main requirement for becoming a leader is that you enjoy being
with children and are enthusiastic about encouraging them to take a
pride in and enjoy their environment.
"Our focus as an organisation is on protecting wildlife for the
future and what better way to do this than by educating future
generations of its importance and fascination."
