Soapbox: Is romance in the air for Gail?
by Rachel Broady4/ 8/2005
CORONATION STREET Frankie follows Leanne to a
hotel and it looks like Danny's affair could be revealed. But Danny
twigs she's on to them (not bad, considering he's as bright as a
broken bulb!) and he and Leanne go their separate ways. When guilt
gets the better of hard-faced Leanne, she cries all over
Jamie.
But is romance in the air for Gail? She has a dinner date with a
man called Keith. Knowing Gail's track record he could be a serial
killer, a womaniser or a boring nurse, so she is - unsurprisingly -
reserved and tells him she's not interested. Then gets a shock when
he admits it's not her he's after, after all.
Meanwhile, Liz has been swotting up on current affairs for her date
with Bob (maybe that will bring her dress sense into the 21st
century) and when she meets his mum she impresses even less.
And Fred is considering sacking Shelley. About time too, even
Margaret Thatcher knew she had to go in the end. But of course Bev
steps in to persuade him otherwise (do try not to think about what
she could potentially offer!), leaving Fred remembering what a
great bar manager she was.
EMMERDALE Daz tells Debbie that he stabbed Jimmy
and that Cain beat up Andy and that they started the fire - in the
breathless way that he does, no doubt. Debbie confronts Cain so, of
course, Cain hits Andy. It's exhausting!
Simple Simon sells his share of the restaurant and loses his
fishmonger business because of his dozy mum. Metal Mickey, I mean
Nicola, is none too pleased and the most unlikely coupling since
Andy and Craig could be coming to an end. I wonder where in the
Village he'll find work. Do the Kings need another secretary?
Meanwhile, Kelly (a young Viv) and Dawn (a demoralised Joss Stone)
are fighting over Scott (a Neanderthal dimwit) and Alice is
concerned about the closeness between Sadie and Sam. Come on, even
Sam wouldn't be that desperate!
EASTENDERS The scriptwriters are looking to
Shakespeare for inspiration. Demi and Leo are Romeo and Juliet,
young lovers escaping their feuding families - by living in a squat
in south London. Brings a tear t'your eye, doesn't it?
No? This will. Chrissie tells Sharon she can't find Den. A metal
detector could spot the buckle on his belt; shall we have a whip
around and send them one?
