Kylie's still a record breaker
by Riazat Butt14/ 4/2005
KYLIE Minogue has sealed her reputation as a box office smash at
the MEN Arena by keeping the record for the most tickets sold by a
solo artist at the venue.
Fans have snapped up tickets for all five dates for the Manchester
leg of her lucrative Showgirl tour, which comes to town next
Saturday.
Over the five nights more than 75,000 people will see Kylie
performing her greatest hits and, by the time the curtain falls on
the final concert on April 28, she will have performed a total of
11 shows at the Arena.
Other big-selling solo draws at the venue include Robbie Williams,
who has had seven dates, and US heavyweight Meatloaf, who has had
six.
Kylie's sold-out world tour opened on March 19 in Glasgow and she
is playing 23 nights at just four venues in the UK, including five
nights at the Arena and seven nights at Earls Court in London. She
will then visit Europe, Australia and the Far East before ending
with a headline appearance at the Glastonbury Festival on June
26.
Her Manchester triumph comes three years after she broke Arena box
office records with her Fever tour when, over six nights, more than
84,000 fans paid more than £2m to see her spectacular show.
