Hooked on Peter Pan

THE much-loved tale is being brought to life by the Northern
Ballet Theatre, a company renowned for captivating new audiences
with its distinctive and innovative dance.
The centenary of J M Barrie's story was celebrated last year but
after all these years it remains a must-read for young and old. Of
course, it tells the tale of Peter Pan who lived in Neverland and
had a war with Captain Hook. The story takes you into a world with
hot-tempered pixie Tinkerbell, the Darling children, the Lost Boys,
pirates, fairy dust, crocodiles and lots of flying.
Northern Ballet's production includes all these elements with
magical puppets, mermaids and death-defying feats.
It is directed and choreographed by artistic director David Nixon,
recently nominated for an Olivier award for his production of A
Midsummer Night's Dream.
The designer is also an Olivier award winner and Peter Mumford has
recreated the Darling's home, Captain Hook's pirate ship and the
magical landscape of Neverland. While Oscar-winning composer
Stephen Warbeck, who produced the music for Shakespeare in Love,
writes his first ballet score for Peter Pan.

ideal vehicle to showcase the talents of both our male and female
dancers.

along to join us on this exciting journey."
Peter Pan will be at the Palace Theatre from May
10.
