KEEN pet lover Mrs Constance Haworth, of Turfcote Nursing Home, Haslingden, died at the Royal Blackburn Hospital last Sunday surrounded by her family, aged 87.
Born in Rossendale, as a girl she lived in Edgeside until she married her late husband Jack, who died in 2006.
She then moved with her husband to Burnley Road East, staying in Waterfoot to Dale Street and later settling in Thornfield Avenue.
She moved to Patrick Crescent, Higher Cloughfold, after having a stroke, and then into to Hollies Rest Home and finally Turfcote Nursing Home.
During the war years she was involved in making aircraft plastics for ICI. She also took up hairdressing and later became a school welfare assistant at Waterfoot County Primary.
When in good health she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs Haworth leaves her son Billy, daughter Barbara, grandchildren David and his partner Carmel, Leanne and her partner Stephen, Cheryl and her partner Anthony and great grandchild Luke.
Her funeral is today (Friday) when the Rev Peter Heywood will conduct a service at St Anne’s Church, Edgeside, at 2.30pm followed by cremation at Burnley at 3.40pm. Family flowers only but donations to Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary c/o funeral director: Geoff Ashworth for Ashworth and Baker Funeral Services, Waterfoot.
